"After the Catch" is the final painting in my kingfisher trio, depicting the bird grooming its feathers after a meal. The subtle, expansive background mirrors the vast unknown once again, continuing the themes of the previous works.
This piece centers on the theme of self-care after hardship. The bird’s act of grooming reminds us that, even in difficult times, taking care of ourselves is essential. Though life may never return to what it was, the cycle continues, and we must move forward.
In tranquil hues of blue, brown and green,
A kingfisher poised, so serene.
With patience keen, it waits, it yearns,
For the perfect moment, it discerns.
In ripples dance, beneath the sky,
It spies its prey with eagle eye.
With grace and speed, it strikes so swift,
A fleeting moment, a precious gift.
Oh kingfisher, in colors bright,
Teach us patience, teach us might.
To wait for dreams with steady gaze,
And seize the moment, all of our days.
