The Story
"Graceful Beginnings" holds a sacred place in my practice. I was working on this piece during the very days my father fell ill and passed away. Every brushstroke is intimately intertwined with that period of profound transition. The owl, a traditional symbol of wisdom, is rendered here with a downward gaze to mirror the human experience of sorrow... yet its posture remains one of quiet, dignified grace.
The palette is inspired by the "blue hour", being that fleeting moment between night and day where the world is held in a stillness that is neither dark nor fully light. It represents the delicate threshold between loss and hope. This painting is more than a study of a subject. It is a living tribute to my father’s legacy, capturing the lessons of courage and grace he left behind.
The Poem
In strokes of paint, my canvas alive,
An owl's gaze, a tribute to strive.
Sixth painting sealed, emotions run deep,
For mom and dad, in prayers I keep.
As thoughts entwine with colours bright,
A young celebration, a guiding light.
In graceful hues, my father's trace,
An owl takes form, a silent embrace.
Symbol of wisdom, this feathered sprite,
Echoes of Dad in the still of night.
Blue hour whispers, a subtle start,
From loss emerges, a hopeful heart.
