The Story
The second chapter in the Kingfisher trio, "Kingfisher’s Prize", captures the moment of achievement. After the quiet of contemplation comes the reward, the moment of clarity and a tangible result of patience.
In this work, I wanted to explore the duality of progress. While the bird has secured its prize, the fish’s face is turned away — a symbol that while we may reach a goal, the full depth of our journey often remains partially veiled. It reflects the act of moving forward and seizing the light, while humbly acknowledging that there is always more to be discovered and understood. It is a celebration of the "precious gift" of the now, even as the vast horizon remains ahead.
The Poem
In tranquil hues of blue, brown and green,
A kingfisher poised, so serene.
With patience keen, it waits, it yearns,
For the perfect moment, it discerns.

In ripples dance, beneath the sky,
It spies its prey with eagle eye.
With grace and speed, it strikes so swift,
A fleeting moment, a precious gift.

Oh kingfisher, in colors bright,
Teach us patience, teach us might.
To wait for dreams with steady gaze,
And seize the moment, all of our days.
